Mr. Benson leads North Carolina market and Commercial Services Division business development efforts. Before joining Investors Title, Mr. Benson served as partner, president, and general counsel for eight years at a leading real estate investment firm based in Durham, North Carolina. Before that role, he practiced real estate law for 21 years. Mr. Benson has been recognized for his real estate law practice on numerous occasions, including being named as one of The Best Lawyers in America® for seven straight years, as one of America's Leading Lawyers for Business by Chambers USA for four consecutive years; as a North Carolina "Super Lawyer" by Super Lawyers® magazine for eight consecutive years; and as a Business North Carolina magazine’s "Legal Elite" for several years. He earned his Juris Doctor with honors from Duke University School of Law, a Master of Arts in public policy analysis from Duke University School of Public Policy, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, cum laude, from Middlebury College.
