We’ve also developed a Web-based title insurance request service called EFLITE that improves our efficiency. In addition, we’ve invested considerable time and money in enhancing our financial reporting and information systems.

While many companies in insurance, mortgage, banking and real estate law are seen as conservative, Investors is always exploring exciting and innovative ways to do business.

Training/Development

To ensure that our employees perform at peak proficiency, we provide excellent on-the-job training across all functions and offer ongoing opportunity for learning through seminars and continuing education classes. Moreover, our employees have the opportunity to provide training to others. For example, our 1031 Exchange Group regularly offers training to attorneys and paralegals, while our Underwriting Support Group offers training to residential and commercial underwriters.

In addition to our educational and training opportunities, we promote from within, whenever and wherever possible. Our online job posting program enables internal and external candidates to apply for positions that will advance their skills and enhance career satisfaction.

Employment Areas

Investors Title consists of a number of departments, branches, and subsidiaries that must work together to ensure efficient and effective operations. Each area plays a vital role in our continuing success and provides satisfying career opportunities for highly motivated professionals.

ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
Located in the North Carolina Corporate Headquarters, the accounting and finance departments have three major functions: to ensure that all business processes are adequately controlled, to ensure that business transactions are properly reflected on the books and properly reported, and to prepare and analyze financial information to assist management in formulating plans and policies and measuring results.

ADMINISTRATION
The Administration Department, also at our Corporate Headquarters, is comprised of an Executive and Senior Management team and their administrative support staff. This group oversees all areas of the Company.

BRANCH OPERATIONS
Investors Title has 27 branch offices located throughout the state of North Carolina. We also have a number of out-of-state branches, including one branch office each in Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia, New York, and Nebraska. State marketing and operations managers oversee our out-of-state branches, while a Vice President of North Carolina Operations and a team of three regional branch performance coordinators are responsible for the proper administration of all the branches in North Carolina. An office manager operates each branch.

COMMERCIAL SERVICES
This department provides a single point of contact for the placement of title searches and the preparation of commitments and policies for any commercial transaction in the states where we do business. Each transaction is handled from start to finish by the same coordinator. Financial stability ratings companies, such as Demotech, Inc., designated Investors Title as “highly recommended” for commercial transactions.

HUMAN RESOURCES
The Human Resources Department, located in the Corporate Headquarters, is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and assisting departments and branch offices in hiring employees. Additionally, it develops and administers various programs relating to employees and their welfare. These programs include benefits, payroll, personnel policies, counseling employees and supervisors, compliance with safety and labor regulations, and maintenance of confidential employee files.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Located in the Corporate Headquarters, the Information Systems department is responsible for installing, supporting, and maintaining all computer hardware, software, and network applications.

INVESTORS CAPITAL MANAGEMENT COMPANY
Investors Capital Management Company (ICMC) is a Registered Investment Advisor, founded in November 2003. It is registered in North and South Carolina and is headquartered in Chapel Hill, NC.

INVESTORS TITLE ACCOMMODATION CORPORATION (ITAC)
On September 15, 2000, the IRS issued Revenue Procedure 2000-37, which provides a safe harbor for reverse exchanges. ITAC serves as Exchange Accommodation Titleholder, offering a vehicle for accomplishing a reverse exchange when the taxpayer must acquire replacement property before selling the relinquished property.

INVESTORS TITLE EXCHANGE CORPORATION (ITEC)
Expert assistance to taxpayers engaging in tax-deferred exchanges of real property is provided through Investors Title Exchange Corporation (ITEC), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. ITEC has served as qualified intermediary in thousands of transactions since its inception in 1988. This department is located in the Chapel Hill Headquarters.

INVESTORS TITLE MANAGEMENT SERVICES (ITMS)
Investors Title Management Services (ITMS) provides management and consulting services to various real estate providers. ITMS is primarily focused on facilitating the establishment and expansion of bank-owned agencies.

INVESTORS TRUST COMPANY
Investors Trust Company received its charter from the North Carolina Commissioner of Banks on February 19, 2004. Investors Trust Company has also opened an office in Charlotte, NC.

LICENSING AND AGENT SERVICES
The Licensing and Agent Services area is responsible for overseeing the Company, employee and agent licensing as well as relationship management with various state departments of insurance. Additionally, this area supports the Company’s marketing development activities and coordinates the management services offered by Investors Title Management Services.

MARKETING AND LEGAL SUPPORT
This department oversees all marketing activities and legal support for all branches and managed agencies at Investors Title and is located in the Chapel Hill Headquarters.

TITLE ATTORNEY STAFF
Title attorneys working out of the Company Headquarters provide expert guidance to employees, agents, approved attorneys and other business partners, handling residential and commercial title insurance issues and questions.

UNDERWRITING SUPPORT
Headquartered in Chapel Hill, this department provides guidance and services to support our agents, approved attorneys, and other business partners on underwriting issues. This comprehensive support includes everything from quick answers to routine questions through researched responses to more complex inquiries. The office is to be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exceptions of the Holidays observed by the Company.

Work/Life Quality

At Investors Title Company, we appreciate the importance of work/life balance and therefore encourage both personal and professional development. We provide generous paid-time-off programs. We feel that it is vital for our associates to have the time and resources to spend with their families and friends relaxing, pursuing their interests, and enjoying a variety of recreational and entertainment activities. The opportunity to unwind and re-energize enables our employees to perform better and focus more clearly.

The Company is also pleased to provide the opportunity for our associates to participate in social and philanthropic activities. Tailgating parties at our Corporate Office are popular marketing events in the fall during college football season. Our Home Office also sponsors annual holiday events, a Health Fair, and Lunch ‘n Learns covering such topics as healthy cooking, self defense, stress management, and dressing for success. In addition, the Company sponsors many social and educational events in its national markets.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we collected donations company-wide and provided matching funds for survivors. We’ve also collected canned food to donate to the local food bank, donated supplies to a local animal shelter, and supported other good causes. Informally, collections and donations are made to employees who experience a catastrophe, such as a home fire.

Company employees receive service awards at five-year intervals, which increase monetarily with each successive award. Employees also enjoy a holiday gift “thank you” check, and our home office celebrates monthly birthdays. All of our offices also have the latitude to recognize employees as they deem appropriate.
